HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS

NOTICE TO RESIDENTS

Dear Residents, as Hurricane Milton approaches, we want to ensure the safety and well-being of our community.

Please take the following actions:

• Secure Outdoor Items: Remove or secure any hanging items, furniture, or hazardous materials from your balconies and back patios. High winds and heavy rain can cause these items to become dangerous projectiles. Please ensure all loose items are brought inside or properly secured.

• Stay Alert: Remain vigilant and keep yourself informed about the storm’s progress. Monitor local weather updates and pay attention to any emergency announcements. Awareness is key to ensuring your safety during severe weather.

• Help keep refrigerated & frozen food longer: Take freezer bags and fill them about ¾ full. Lay them flat in your freezer. Put as many as you can fit in the freezer. If power goes out put about ½ of the frozen bags in the refrigerator section to keep that cold longer.

• Protect valuable papers: Put any valuable papers (insurance forms, deeds, auto titles, etc.) in a plastic garbage bag, seal the end with tape and put that bag in another bag and seal. Put them in a top kitchen cabinet or in a second floor room in case of flooding. You can also protect other valuables this way.

• Protect your vehicles: Park in your garage or carport. If there is no room, park as close to your house as possible. Winds will be less close to the building.

• Keep pets indoors. If they want to defecate or urinate, put down newspaper with paper towels underneath and try to get them to use this. Do not walk in high winds or very heavy rain with lightning.

• Make sure your cell phone(s) are fully charged. If you have power banks, charge them too.

• Use battery-powered lights at night. Do not light candles or other bare flames.
